Palace IT Support - Microsoft Windows updates KB3177725 for Windows 7 and KB3176493 for Windows 10 are causing known printing issues which affect Palace Stock Tracker

Issue Summary

It has been reported by many Stock Tracker customers that after printing one job (either a drop list, invoice or contact summary) no subsequent jobs are sent to the printer (issue PST4-114). In some cases a second job has printed but only partially.

After much research and testing it has been confirmed that this issue is being caused by a Windows update released by Microsoft on 9th August 2016. There are 2 versions of the update depending on the installed OS.

Microsoft have confirmed this is a known issue.

Temporary Workarounds

Workaround 1: Uninstall the Windows update.
In "Uninstall a Program" click "View installed updates", search for KB3177725 (Windows 7) or KB3178466 (windows 10) and uninstall the update. You computer may need to restart.

Workaround 2: Print via BullZip or CutePDF printing sofware (other PDF creation software may not work, pdfFactory does not work).
BullZip PDF printer is unaffected by this issue. The software can be downloaded for free at http://www.bullzip.com/products/pdf/info.php.

After installing BullZip either set "BullZip PDF Printer" as the Regular Printer in Stock Tracker's Client Options or tick Ask Every Time. Then print to BullZip, save the PDF and print from the PDF viewer after the PDF opens.

Note: The same PDF filename can be used next time, simply press Save to overrite the last file.

Workaround 3: Print via Microsoft OneNote.
Only available if Microsoft Office OneNote is installed.

Workaround 4: Exit Stock Tracker after each print job.
Close Stock Tracker completely and reopen to print subsequent jobs.


Resolution

This issue will either be fixed in 4.35 unless Microsoft releases a fix in the meantime.
